This exceptional gem black opal is named after Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, an Australian who married Prince Frederik of Denmark in 2004. It weighs 29.8ct and has an exquisite reed pattern. A spectrum of colours rolls up each leaf of the reed pattern as it is rotated, and flames appears to burst up from the bottom of the stone. The colours are electric and uniform from every angle. Sides are 26mm, 14mm, 24mm, 24mm, 15mm.
This gem is Named and photographed in Len Cram's latest publication "A Beautiful Souvenir of Lightning Ridge". It will be one of the most widely known black opals ever documented.
